American Capitalism, wealth and freedom* for the elite.

Capitalism, the tool by which economics function in America, is at best the economic theory of freedom, at its worst it is the legitimization of predatory commerce. Like in all things we endeavor to undertake, human nature is the fulcrum of morality. I hear the term "in a perfect world" quite often and in most cases the perfect world is one without the dark side of human nature. Capitalism and human nature interact in a multitude of ways, I will touch upon only a few here. Once an entity gains the amount of commercial success, or political leverage it takes to be able to change the rules of the game, are they still operating under capitalism, or are they then ABOVE the capitalist model? Balance in all things is another term I frequently hear when investigating success. Should it be considered balance when one player in the game rises above the rules of that game? I think not.
I have heard from strong believers from the various political factions that commerce is the end all of our society. I cannot argue that it is not one of the most important aspects of a society, and would not attempt to do so. But where we the people rank in comparison to commerce is the key to how much power commerce should be able to wield over society. As Communism has proven in it's execution theory and human nature often conflict to the detriment of the whole. Pure theory cannot cover all of the bases of societal impact upon any institution, and human nature(dark) must be protected against, by introducing regulations which allow the commercial freedom intended with capitalism, and at the same time limit the amount of control over the entire system by any one or group involved, and protecting the constitutional rights of the citizen.
One group of Americans, the elite wealthy, fight and claw to stay at the tops of their respective hills by means of circumventing the laws set in place to protect the nation as a whole by, among other things, combining media, food, pharmaceutical, chemical, financial and other industries into huge conglomerates in order to implement guerrilla marketing upon the other group, John Q Public. This goes beyond Capitalism in my eyes, takes the entrepreneurial spirit right out of the individual knowing that the deck is stacked against you if you want to innovate and bring new things to the table. You can go and become a cog in the machine all you want, just do not compete or you will be destroyed.
Many times this has been shown to be true: Tucker automobile, the guy who invented the windshield washer, etc. Those examples hail from the 40's -60's and they at least had some regulation back then. America is at her most vulnerable when one part of the whole becomes so powerful that it controls the entire environment of commerce and society.
I think capitalism is a great theory, and allows the freedom of the entrepreneurial spirit to run amok, but human nature must be regulated against, and the threat of too much power in one place must be guarded against. Commerce in America has a choke hold on our society, it wants its money, and does not care how it comes. Commerce has no morality, and is only concerned with profit.

Sarah Palin: American Law Should Be 'Based On The God Of The Bible And The Ten Commandments'

Ones relationship with their god is a personal thing. Religion is the practice of using that relationship to control groups of people. The founding fathers were spiritual, and not all were christians. They also knew the dangers of mixing government and religion, and warned against it. They even wrote letters to you and I explicitly begging us to remember the dangers of letting the two become entwined. If the founding fathers wanted the ten commandments to be the law of the land they would have specifically said so in the constitution. The constitution is not the bible and the founding fathers are not god. Confusing those things is ignorant, and dangerous to the freedoms set forth in the constitution and it's amendments.

I'm proud of our founding fathers and the care they took to ensure all men would enjoy equal freedoms under American law.

I'm ashamed that it is so easy to sway "we the people" away from these truths, these days.

Arizona Police Launch First Immigration Crackdown After Law's Passage (VIDEO)

Mind you, I'm mostly liberal viewed, bi-racial, middle aged man. I do not mind legal immigrants in the least, the more the merrier I say. It is really too bad that we have lost our faith in our civil servants' ability to execute law without prejudice(due to the actions of the relatively few), as well as our federal government and its desire to actually see this problem solved. Someone is getting rich because of illegal immigrant labor and the ease with which they are controlled. It's almost an American pastime to throw the yoke on them since the abolition of slavery.

This is an immigration issue period! Send illegals away, tighten up the borders, PERSECUTE THOSE WHO EMPLOY ILLEGALS! stress english literacy.

If you do not live in a region where illegals are rampant, you have no experience. I personally see them do these things with far greater frequency than citizens: Litter from their vehicles, wave foreign flags, refuse to speak english, use the emergency room as primary care, spit out babies like it's a contest.

Some social problems need hard solutions. The current state America requires all citizens to man up for our safety and survival. I'm enamored with the ideas of our founding fathers, but the abuses and loopholing that have pushed commerce into the end-all of priorities have led our country astray, and enslaved the middle-low income classes. Corporate profit at the cost of my constitutional freedoms is unacceptable to me.

Come, Tea Partiers and Liberals - Let Us Reason Together

I have to say that I admire the authors ideals. To simply conduct civil discourse must be possible. I'm sure the teabaggers do so among themselves just as those who are not do. The way may be to speak as though you are talking to someone similar to yourself (even if it is not the case). To assume that those who rally to the opposite flag that you do are not people with feelings, families and intelligence, is enabling the division of "we the people".

We must embrace our differences (which is so very against human nature) and strip back the names and insults to bare the truth which is: We all want the same things like security, opportunity, and community. We all want America to turn out the best students, innovations and to dominate commerce. It's just that the potential means to achieve these things are the cause of argument.

If we could agree on the GOALS, discussion on the means could hopefully proceed civilly.

Why change is what America needs; and Israel is punking us.

America, I know you are not stupid. Since most of us think our involvement with Israel is one of the main causes of the 9/11 attacks on our soil. The recent behaviors displayed by Israel are inflammatory to that situation and can only increase malice towards America. Netanyahu disregards this fact with impunity, and is acting like the younger punk brother of a bad ass.
Please do yourself and our country a favor and deeply investigate the tactics used by the Republican party; 99% negative attack fear mongering means that they have no positive match to the Democrats proposals on any of the major issues. I do not see any constructive solutions to the problems we face coming from the Republican party. What I do see is Republicans campaigning for office, which is not their job during these most troubling of times. Most of the problems we face were precipitated by de-regulation of the banking industry, and letting our infrastructure fall into an almost obsolete condition. The government has been catering to and protecting commerce instead of citizens, which has led to record numbers of jobs going overseas.
Basically, if we let things stay the way the country was being run for the past 20 years, a critical mass failure on the scale of the great depression is predicted within another 10 years. You will see in time that Obama is sincerely trying to correct the course of our country. We have become thralls to the corporation and he is trying to shift the balance the power away from corporations and churches, and back to the people, all of the people.
Think about it, the main objective of a government is to provide it's citizens an environment in which they can be productive, secure and free to believe and love without taking those things away from other citizens. The so called government "power grab" is from the corporations, who are in no way held accountable for their actions as they destroy whatever lies between them and profit; poisoned wells causing cancer, coal waste slurry flooding and ruining a whole town, silly things like that. Ruthless predation of Americans by corporate greed is a far worse scenario than government regulating these behaviors and limiting the damage they can do.
Please America, don't let Beck be your only source of info he's an entertainer. It is our job as citizens to question ALL of our leaders and their intentions. The founding fathers explicitly told us this, and warned us of unbalanced priorities.

Dose religion really help mankind overall?

It seems to me that religions grow in membership during times of woe and hardship.
Would it not benefit the worlds religions then to foment divisiveness, and clashes between locals who have lived together for generations? "The Church" like any entity or institution needs to survive, and survival depends on growing the flock, and to do that, it helps to have people in misery so that they can receive comfort at the hands of GOD.
The missionary religions, by imposing their rules upon the converted regardless of their living circumstances, can and do incur further hardships upon them. This happens when the influence of the church is whored out to accomplish the desires of man. This happens when contraception is turned into a sin and birthrates skyrocket, or when the missionaries vocally spurn any group that rejects their teachings (loosely applied term), it may cause any who have converted to be at odds with their neighbors.
I know that churches do a lot to provide community and support for it in places where freedom of religion is accepted. Although they do have the spectre of sexual misconduct by priests in these comfortable parishes. But in places where times are hard and there is no law of religious freedom, religion causes increased division among members of those communities.
I am not Muslim and I know little of the practicing of it. I have though noticed that it seems like the extremist clerics use the deepset love their followers have towards the prophet Mohammed to fuel hate towards those who do not follow his teachings. Much like christianity used  those same tactics during the crusades and the Inquisition. In fact I see many parallels between religious growth tactics and those used for war.

Brazil Church Sex Scandal: Video Allegedly Shows Priest Abusing Altar Boy

This just in: religious right supporters are trying to shove Christianity into our government! What is to gain by doing this? Well these priests will get even more little boys to diddle as the church continues to grow. The fact that the church has not done right by it's parishioners and eradicated this behavior from the ranks of the "pious", is a statement regarding their mentality.

It is the same behavior displayed by Wall street; a blatant disregard for the laws of man or god. Those who see themselves as beyond reproach and without peer will allow themselves to be lured into depravity. Just as power eventually corrupts the hearts of men.

Wang Cuyun, Chinese Grandmother, Beaten And Buried Alive By Property Developers

It's simpler than an economic theory such as capitalism, which is only as fair as it's practitioners in a manner similar to a gun which is only as deadly as it's (non accidental) wielders intent. The blame lies in the fell half of human nature, wherein greed resides. The lack of social standards protecting certain things from exploitation by greedy rapacious commerce allows the mentality of profit at all costs to propagate until it replaces the careful balance of true economic freedom for all. The lure of wealth is a strong one, and many a good person has failed in staving it off.

Eric Massa And Glenn Beck Conspire For Train Wreck TV

You see, in America sex is viewed as such a taboo, whereas the rest of the western world and the far east view it simply as a function of the human biology, or better yet as something beautiful and fun. So we have this situation here where there are people who become more attractive to others due to their job as politicians, combined with the desire of the competition pushing for their failure by any means necessary. Those means could be anything from a constant barrage of unethical offers ranging from sex to goodies. Seeing that Americans will get very upset when a politician gets caught in a personal moment of sexual misconduct(not criminal in this case), it is a much more effective tool for slander here than in Europe and the far east. I challenge any human to hold their moral ground when there are people virtually flinging any and everything at you to get you to slip up and get caught, anyone could hold out for a while, try a whole elected term..

THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is my educated guess as to how these things happen with such frequency here.

Obama To Meet With Schumer, Graham About Immigration Reform

It's about votes, it's about taxes, it's about the idea that assimilating the ones here into our culture in a manner similar to that of the 50's and 60's in that they want to speak english and be accepted into the middle class as productive members, is a good one. It is not healthy for a society to be deeply divided by language and class. I am not naive enough to say that those divisions should be eradicated, I am saying they should be minimized for the future health of the nation. If illegals are encouraged to become citizens, it weakens their bond with their home country while strengthening the bond to America; instead of being visitors, (who litter, refrain from learning the language, send money back across the border, etc) and basically have little regard for our country except as a means to earn a living. The fact that illegals burden the infrastructure without fully contributing to their maintenance, is a wasteful gap bleeding out our tax dollars. We have rules and laws that are being abused across the board: employers using illegal workers, those illegals living here and leeching away more than they contribute to the good of our country.

I am in no way a racist, rules need to be followed.

Bart Stupak Abortion Claims Debunked: Health Bill Would NOT Force Federal Spending On Abortion

What I do not understand is how the republicans can continuously get away with pushing their "fierce defense of our constitutional rights" and small government, while in the same breath they will demand government regulation barring citizens from controlling our own reproductive rights. Is it hypocritical for conservative politicians to pander to the religious right; essentially joining church and state?

It seems to me that the republican party chooses to rally around controversial, unanswerable debates like abortion and has aligned itself with some of the most polar opposite groups and ideas imaginable:

NRA vs Religion = (weapons vs love)

Small government vs military spending and war = (protecting citizens vs protecting mil/ind/complex)

Main st. vs corporate America = (looking out for the avg citizen vs looking out for the top 1%)

There are too many examples to list. I see the GOP imploding before my eyes. The low common denominator of the populace they are trying to appeal to are the very people Obama dreams of helping. Lies eventually come to light, and the GOP has painted itself into a corner and has little integrity left.

Obama Health Care Speech: It's Time To Act

Those choices will be laid out for you then at the whim of corporate America. Obama is trying to make it so your options help the whole country(it's citizens). Republicans are trying to make your options continue to benefit the top 1% of the earners.

Your arguments are childish and selfish. You have no regard for the nation as a whole. I'll bet that you think America is the greatest nation on earth by the measure of it's current health care, education, energy efficiency and innovation rankings compared to other countries. Do you pay your taxes? Not by choice I'm certain. We have proven that letting commerce go unregulated always ends up in Americans being hurt by: poisoning water tables, offering stupid loans to people, canceling health insurance, etc, etc.

You may be afraid of big government, I'm afraid of government helping the wealthy only, while lining up the rest of us like cattle for the corporations to squeeze.

Religion for all?

The main problem with christian doctrine is that it claims exclusive rights to the afterlife, with no alternative whatsoever. Now if every human on earth had a copy of the bible, and we all interpreted it the same way, then I could say maybe it's true. But we do neither of those things, so I am doubtful. The elitist mindset of a person who thinks that God would intentionally withhold his word to all those who practice other religions is short sighted and almost exclusively dependent on faith. Since humans are the leaders of religion it inevitably falls victim to our nature. Our nature is opportunistic and those of us who would prey on the faith/weakness others can use religion for exercising control over groups of people.

The english language did not exist at year 1AD, and that means the bible has been translated between languages at least once. The bible did not exist in it's current form until at least 1000 years after the birth of Christ, and was put edited by a group of catholic priests. Have you ever played the game telephone? Where even the simplest few words will inevitably be distorted when whispered around a circle in a couple of minutes. How then does the original intent of the bible stay true after another 1000 years?
After much reflection on this subject I have come to the conclusion that human nature (which is "forgiven" upon accepting Jesus as your true savior, then at confession, leaving the devout open for the evil/confess/heaven rinse & repeat) combined with overpopulation (which is also aided by Christianity's dogma of make more babies) is keeping us on a path to a mandatory evolution of our species. Just like we do with dogs our nasty behaviors will be bred out of us by the act of surviving the world we are creating. Maybe it's the only way for us to survive the long haul. Remember that the prior "rulers" of the planet reigned for many millions of years, we're very immature as a species.

When Customer Service Fails, There's Always YouTube (VIDEO)

Capitalism itself sucks as much as a rifle by itself does. They are tools to be used for either good or evil; the sucky part is the lack of practical common sense regulations to prevent greedy selfish entities from taking advantage of consumers and investors. Capitalism is great for industry and innovation as long as the game is balanced, once the corporate entities become untouchable through law or economic power the whole process is ruined because the market no longer dictates their success.

If a company makes huge profits and has the right connections they can get away with polluting, producing unhealthy products, basically its knowingly trading wealth for the health of it's customers. Pure evil if you ask me. The inherent checks within capitalism are bypassed and negated by the unfettered greed and detachment of the corporate mentality in America.

Maddow At CPAC 2010 Conference (VIDEO)

Liberals attack? Then what do you call the Republican reaction to what they disagree with? I'd call it berserk blitzkrieg of insanity!

You see, liberals have some respect for the process of intelligent debate and if they are lying, they have the intelligence to mask it very well, because they know that their party constituents will investigate and pick apart any untruths.

While conservatives just outright lie without any backup because they know the cattle they call party constituents will feverishly lap it up with no criticism.

Simply put: The Democrats want every American to have the opportunity to be successful. In the current state of our nation corporate greed is the single greatest threat to the average American citizen because they pollute and steal our money. The Republicans want everything to stay the same or to solely benefit the wealthiest Americans because they are the main source of support for the party. That being the case, of course wealthy conservatives want to protect their own interests to their fullest ability greed is a powerful motivator.

It's like someone who drives a car without ever doing maintenance on it, when it breaks it costs much much more than the maintenance would have in the first place.

Johnny Weir Threats 'Very Serious': Anti-Fur Groups Worry Olympic Skater

Our position at the top of the food chain, combined with the unique power to willingly shape our environment and our self awareness, imposes upon us the need to care for the balance of life on earth. Our power does not give us the right to run roughshod over all of nature without penalty, in fact we are beholden to choose the correct path of long term survival of our species which depends on the preservation of the balance of nature and it's cycles. Like the wild animals below us, we evolved to survive off the land, and with our success came local, then global overpopulation. While we must eat, we must also be civil and treat our food animals with the respect one would give for a person who gives their life for others to survive. Our capacity for compassion in itself demands that we use it or be less than human.

The equal right to life for animals does not equate to an individual persons own priorities about who's survival is important. We have our priorities and with the infinite diversity of the human mind that is ok. But mistreating food can only bring us bad karma. Clothing can be made entirely free of dead animal parts, so I do not see why the real dead stuff should be used, If Kervorkian was the one who chose how they died I might be more relaxed, but greed and profit are solely regarded when deciding how animals should die.

Nodar Kumaritashvili Crash VIDEO: Winter Olympics Luge Slider DEAD (GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

Get over it! Pain and death happen!

Stop being selfish and let yourselves feel the pain that these images portray. Is it better that you do not have it burned into your mind, or that you actually pay the respect due to the man and the way he died. While it is not enjoyable to see these images, is it far worse to disregard the lessons they offer.

RESPECT HIS DEATH BY FEELING THE TRUE WEIGHT OF IT!

Really, just sit there and think of his family, so proud-then horrified. Or the other athletes, the best times ever-now death stained. The track designer! thrilled at the fastest course ever-I cannot imagine their thoughts now.

Those who cannot appreciate the finality of death, will never live life to it's fullest. Like all emotions sadness takes healthy practice to master.

Very sad to lose a life in such a peaceful competition between nations, as so many are lost due to hateful wars.

Although the photographs are very explicitly disturbing, the emotions they evoke in the reader are the closest that we will come to empathizing the feelings of those survivors who endured the accident in the firsthand.

We all can use a bit of empathy for the real suffering of others, it is painful to see, but it builds character. This is not another slick catastrophe to be grouped in with the rest of the "news".

Take the time to appreciate the gravity of the loss, as opposed to wasting it while spouting off about how the pictures offend you.

Black Hole Simulator Uses Real Star Data To Take You Inside The Black Hole (VIDEO)

This animation is a supposition, a stab at graphically depicting the (intelligently imagined) appearance of a black hole by using what we know mixed with what we theorize. This exercise is not intended to show what is out there, it is to show what MIGHT be out there (an educated guess). The imagination is crucial in discovering what is as of yet unknown, when combined with knowledge and theory.

Some would say that this necessity for an explanation is the origin of mythology and religion. While religion and mythology rely on faith as the main component, science uses theory and experimentation to work out the questions, or shall I say the answers.

Obama At House Republican Retreat In Baltimore: FULL VIDEO, TEXT

What all of you are missing is this: The president is a politician, he wants politics to revert to it's secretive ways of the past. Where they never had to deal with the public unless they wanted to. The party lines that were used to divide the country for ease of manipulation have become so thick and dark that Washington cannot get anything accomplished. The bipartisanship displayed by the current administration is a veil hiding the true intent of the whole system: get the public to trust in it's government again so we can get back to business as usual.

They are being pooped on by their own mouths! The logic used to rationalize this away from racism is WEAK. This wasn't thought through very well, and they deserve ridicule for being stupid more than being for being rac ists. In America we have the right to think what we want, say what we want, but not to be free from ridicule for stupidity. I don't care what they say or do as long as NOBODY'S rights are infringed upon. It is illegal to discriminate based on color, and this thinly veiled racism fits the description. The last sentence in your post is a great sentiment if everyone thought so, but they do not, which is regrettable.

"Just ignore them if you don't like what they are doing." Has gotten us into deep trouble with Wall street, and WW2 holocaust, and can be said to have contributed to most of our social problems.

"The grid" is old and decrepit, It will not last through the population growth projected for the next 50 years. There is so much bleed off due to poor maintenance that it makes the current situation laughable. Humans will not slow the rate of population growth until we are rendered infertile by our actions, so to support the population we will NEED to consume more efficiently and reduce waste. But since there is not really any short term profit incentive for participation in the maintenance of our infrastructure, it's failure will become yet another catastrophe down the road. Which will be used for political gain.

Roy Sekoff Reviews Sarah Palin's Debut As Fox News Analyst (VIDEO)

It really is an indicator of the acceleration of America's slide to obscurity that Pay-lin repeatedly gets her opinion validated and amplified by the media. In "The End Of America" Naomi Wolf pointed out the parallels between our current social situation and those of countries which fell victim to the "closing" of societies, and the resultant losses of basic democratic freedom. One of those is the fall from popularity of science, literacy, industry, and above all intellectualism. All of which were huge factors in Americas successes in the early to mid 20th century. What do we make? What have we innovated? Can we even MAINTAIN tour current outdated infrastructure? The slide towards mediocrity awaits us fellow citizens, those at the helm will surely hop off the train just prior to the last stop, safety nets in place and pockets full.
